Why a control is disabled

Start with the explanation beside the control

DeckDraft disables options when the current geometry or configuration cannot support them. The nearby helper text usually names the missing relationship.

For example, a lower stair connection remains unavailable until the stair is close enough to a compatible landing or deck edge.

Common prerequisites

• The wrong object or no object is selected.
• The active view does not support that editing operation.
• A compatible edge, deck section, landing, roof, or house wall is not in range.
• A generated relationship controls the value.
• The attachment or framing system makes the option inapplicable.
• The source object is locked or represents existing framing.

A reliable recovery sequence
